That's been our expression this weekend. It's been a productive weekend & we're finishing up quite a few projects that seem like milestones and are "huge" to us. The radiant floor got hooked up on Friday (and it works!), we plumbed in the drain for

Paul and Kelly from Advance Radiant Technology were on our calendar for Monday morning and Nick took the day off of work. My cell phone rang at work this morning and they were at our house. After a bit of confusion Nick hopped on the bus and headed home

Anyways, I was thinking yesterday about what motivates people, especially relating to home renovation. It was very energizing to get the last of the tubing connected to the manifold and be ready to have the radiant floor system tested. We are so far from

Two long days (12hrs yesterday!) later and we made some definitive progress over the weekend. The tubing for the radiant floor is now complete - we snapped the last loops into their tracks on Saturday and hooked all 6 loops to the manifold on Sunday morning.

I told Nick that if he would take the garbage and recycling out this morning, I'd give him a ride to work. While he was outside, I locked the back door, gathered up our things and was going to meet him in front. Then I hear him at the back door, so I

Okay- we're still using extension cords and only have one counter next to the sink that is temorarily kept in place with the dishwasher. But I can now cook again in our kitchen! Can you tell I'm pretty excited? In case you don't follow our blog, here's

If I post that we'll put the tubing in the QuikTrak tonight, then I am most likely to get everything cleaned up and ready to go. Then Nick and I can put the tubing in when he gets home from work. All I have to do is put away the miscellaneous tools, clean

We keep jumping from project to project, and my latest one is to finish finishing the doors. The back door is installed and the front door just got one last coat of matte spar varnish. I am very happy with how they are turning out and I hope the finish

We didn’t get everything done that Trissa hoped we might , but the dent was pretty substantial. After all, we did strip 150 square feet of bead board. And this was no regular paint. It was “poor man’s stucco paint”. If you can't visualize this, think

I think someone cheated on this week's (bi)weekly poll. Either that or we have a lot of non-renovators reading the blog. I say this because I find it hard to believe that we had 38 responses (57%) of "No projects - doesn't apply" to the question "How

I'm hoping that by doing almost nothing this week that I have somehow accumulated a bunch of potential energy. I'll go to sleep tonight and in the morning I'll feel like one of those wind up toys- ready to go full boar stopping only briefly for a bite

Here at Pigeon Point we have a bunch of paint that ultimately needs to get removed. It’s like no paint you’ve ever seen before. This dirty gray paint is on the exterior of the house, on everything but the asbestos siding. It has texture in it, and I swear

I’m exhausted, and I think Trissa is too. Work on the house appears to have slowed to a crawl, even though we don’t have time for much else. This weekend we spent a lot of time just looking around at all the various stages of completion, unable to get

That would be a great batting average, but no- it's my removing window panes intact average. I'd procrastinated as long as I could on getting back to restoring the nook windows. So after my dentist appt. this morning, I thought I'd get back to it. Nick

Okay- I started to write this in June- but then the house took over and I never finished it. So my idea of tool of the month, will not be exactly every month. But here's this month's choice. My last tool review of the nipper is still a favorite of mine,

It only took a few hours on Sunday (it's "quick") and now all of the Quick Track for the radiant floor is laid on the first floor. Trissa and I are both ecstatic that we have a relatively clean and solid floor to walk on again. I bet the cats are happy
