Nap Time
This weekend is off to a pretty good start. In fact it’s gone so well that I’m now completely pooped and am laying horizontal on the couch as I write this. I don’t think I’m gonna move for an hour or two, at least.
Mostly I’m tired out because I carried a full palette’s worth of bamboo flooring up the 33 stairs to the house. I think it took 12 trips. The bamboo is for the kitchen and foyer, and we’ve been procrastinating on its purchase (and subsequent installation) for months. When we went to the bamboo place a few months ago we picked out some really nice stuff that had a really not so nice price tag. This time we went in again and it was just as nice (and not so nice) and we were about to get it when the guy said he had some very similar stuff for less than half the price. In fact, I think the similar stuff is better – the planks are narrower and I think they will look better installed because the seams will tend to disappear more. So we got it, and now it’s piled in the living room awaiting installation in two weeks when my dad arrives (I hope). I’ll have to write up a special post on the installation – this will be my first time installing a floating floor. No nails, just glued seams.
And that’s not all. We also ordered our kitchen sink this morning. I’m not a huge fan of stainless steel, but that’s what Trissa wanted and so that’s what we got. Her original vision was a single stainless steel basin, but I convinced her that we need two basins – one for washing dishes and one for scrubbing food stuffs while the other is in use. Here’s what we ended up with:

I think it’s gonna look darn sweet under-mounted on our yet-to-be poured concrete counters. But that’s a ways off – I’ve been telling Trissa she’s gonna have to live with plywood counters for a while yet.
Okay, time for a nap.
