Craftsman-style Medicine Cabinet

A couple of years ago I was browsing for medicine cabinets and was abhorred by the selection, quality, and prices.  One of my favorite retailers had a line of nice cabinets that were okay quality (not superb) but they retailed for well over $500.  Whoa.  Since I like woodworking, I knew what laid in store for me.

We now have three bathrooms and none of them has a medicine cabinet.  Ultimately I think we will have one both upstairs, and one downstairs.  When we redid the upstairs bath just over a year ago we opted to install just a mirror - which I think is a mistake since we could use the storage space.  At the time it made sense since the mirror came with the sink.

In any event, I recently decided to build myself a medicine cabinet and see if I could sell it for a small profit.  If you're looking for an inset (flush-mount) medicine cabinet and like the Craftsman style, you won't find a better-built option.  My cabinet is constructed from poplar and is glued and pocket-screwed together.  The mirror has a bevel-cut, and there are two adjustable glass shelves inside.  The hardware is brushed-nickel but could be replaced with whatever hardware you like.  The door is configured for left-swing but could be reconfigured for right-swing.  The cabinet is primed but not painted - If you buy it you get to paint it yourself.

Dimensions

25 ¾” W x 32” H x 4 ½” D

Rough-in Dimensions (the size hole you need to cut in your wall)

20 ¼ W x 24” H x 3 ½ D

I'm asking $300 for this cabinet.  If you're interested in a cabinet like this, contact me at nicholashodapp (at) yahoo (dot) com.

If you like this style cabinet but the size is too large (or small?), I'd consider custom building a similar cabinet for your space.  Contact me with the details and we can talk about it.
