ProjectCam

ProjectCam is our wireless web camera publishing a live feed of images of our home to Pigeon Point Project every 5 seconds. During the weekday you probably wont see much, save for our cats, or any cat-burglars (hopefully not!).

When we’re working on projects however, you’ll get to see us working, in real time.  Write us a comment and let us know you’re watching!  Tell us if we’re doing anything wrong!

If you’re interested in setting up your own ProjectCam, it’s not terribly difficult.  We bought a wireless model which works well with our home wireless network.  In particular, it makes it easy to move the camera wherever there is power, without having to hook it to a computer.  Contact us if you would like more information.

This image will automatically refresh every 5 seconds:

I see your bin has arrived, I saw nick putting out the trash. The weather looks a little nicer than up here, 100 mi. north.

very strange - that wasn't me taking out the trash, and it's not trash day until tomorrow. was it Dale, our talkitive neighbor from across the street?

Can we watch this in fast forward when it's done?

Hi Dave! That's a great idea, but we don't have the software for doing the time-lapse. It's been on my list to code something up, but something else seems to always have higher priority... Thanks for visiting!

Why is the dumpster still there? It's supposed to be gone by now?! Are they waiting for it to rain so the plaster will be twice as heavy and expensive?

Say Nick...how about using the project cam when we install the boiler system next week? I'll remind my crew to make sure they've seen the hair stylist.

Hi guys:
We really enjoyed the pics from Pigeon Point but had a very hard time figuring out if Phil is really doing any meaningful work out there. I saw him measuring once, but is that really work? Tell him his buddy Paul wrote and said he should pick up the pace a bit.

I see Nick and Trissa putting down flooring maybe? Is that a nail gun? Boy you guys work fast :)
# July 26, 2005 6:19 PM

Nick said:

Yep, kinda. What you saw was us laying down "QuikTrak", which is for the radiant floor system we're installing. Basically it consists of plywood panels with grooves to run tubing through. Beneath the panels are thin aluminum sheets which reflect the heat from the tubes up into the room. We're using a pneumatic stapler for this, and it does go quickly!

I got to see you and Trissa when at your parent's house for dinner the other night. Amazing, this technology.
After reading Jesse's article I can hardly wait to drive over and see this incredible creation.
Your house is coming along so beautifully. I love everything you are doing. We will definitely make a point of seeing you on our next Seattle visit. Keep up the good work! Joan

Ouch! The joys of diy. Better a spray and know it happened than a very slow leak that emerges after the damage works its way to the surface.
We share your pain.
The floors look great! Can't wait to come and see.
